Syftet var att undersöka om man genom att sammankoppla samtida historiska händelser på både lokal- och riksplanet i Sverige kan öka förståelsen hos elever att historiska skeenden påverkar samhället och att eleverna kan vara med och bidra till framtidens samhälle. Undersökningen genomfördes under sju veckor i en femteklass i Kiruna. Vi har i undersöknings-gruppen arbetat med historia på många olika pedagogiska sätt. Undersökningen präglas av ett hermeneutiskt förhållningssätt, mätinstrumenten bestod av enkäter och observationer. Resultaten visade att eleverna nått kunskaper som i viss mån lett fram till förståelse.

This thesis examines the everyday resistance, and its interaction with cultural hybridity, of the Saami population in the administrative unit of Torne lappmark during the period 1639?1732.
